The Balkan Womens Network for Democratization and Conflict
Prevention is a network of womens organisations created
in April 2001, at a regional conference organized in Greece
by KEGME on the theme of Womens Dialogue for the
Promotion of Stability, Human Rights and Sustainable Peace
in South East Europe. An electronic network, BWNet,
was set up a year later to facilitate the work of the network
in promoting democratic practice and human rights, preventing
and resolving conflict, and building sustainable peace in
the Balkans.
BWNet aims to empower Balkan women and
their organizations to play an active role in promoting democracy,
human rights and peace in the region, through the building
of solidarity, cooperation, collective action and the sharing
of experiences, information, tools and resources
